In the St. Louis Region’s March 27 Zoom presentation, “What Jane Saw,” Anastasia Biermann and Kathie Bassett will reveal the world of Jane Austen through the fine and decorative arts that were familiar to her, focusing on art and architecture. We’ll examine the fine art of Sir Joseph Reynolds, Rolinda Sharples, and J. M. W. Turner, as well as the decorative arts of Wedgwood china and wallpaper treatments. We’ll also explore the places where Austen lived and visited during her 41 years, like Steventon, Bath, Chawton, and Winchester. We’ll immerse ourselves in some of the visual delights of the Georgian era for an afternoon—and perhaps add a few more places to our post-COVID travel wish lists!

To ensure that our afternoon runs smoothly and securely, we’ve registered this program with EventBrite. Please use the green Register button above to reserve your free virtual ticket. Our program is open to all, but only 100 tickets are available. Zoom instructions will be sent via email to all ticket holders.
