The Power of Place as Inspiration
Natalie Jenner, the internationally bestselling author of The Jane Austen Society, will be presenting a 45-minute talk on the power of literary pilgrimage and how her visits to Chawton House directly inspired her novel, followed by a live Q&A for 15-30 minutes.
“The Jane Austen Society” is a fictional telling of the start of the society in the 1940s in the village of Chawton, where Austen lived and wrote. A percentage of author royalties from the UK edition of Natalie’s book directly support Chawton House.
Natalie will be speaking as part of a subscription series offered through the North American Friends of Chawton House. She has waived her usual honorarium to raise awareness for Chawton House. Her presentation connects to the two-pronged mission of Chawton House to preserve both a historic Austen family site and the unique legacy of early women writers whose works are housed in the Library.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration through Eventbrite is required, and additional information will be sent to the email address you use when you register.
Please note: To ensure that our afternoon ran smoothly and securely, this event was presented as an online presentation via Zoom.
