Using Zoom for Our Events

Zoom Protocol:

Meeting protocols include muting upon entry and only unmuting if they are reading or joining in a discussion. Members can join either with video or by phone. Everyone will be placed in a waiting room upon entry and anyone who is keeping others from enjoying the meeting can be removed by the moderator. The room will be opened a few minutes prior to the start time and the room will be locked 15 minutes after the start.  It is suggested that you use gallery view  and that you turn off your video link once the program starts.

If you are using Zoom for the first time and would like a tutorial, you can either email Jennifer at treasurer@jasna-stl.org or look at the following YouTube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9isp3qPeQ0E

Looking to set the Stage?  Optional Zoom Background Possibilities:

Ellen Kunkelmann has suggested a few options for changing your virtual background on Zoom to transport us to Austen’s England for the afternoon. She feels any of the following choices would be perfect for our virtual JASNA meeting.

Check out the Great Hall at Badminton, the gardens at Shute House, and the Cotswold cottage at the end!

Further, there are even more options available online; search “Zoom virtual background” for dozens of Zoom-ready options. You can use any image, really, although it may need to be resized for Zoom background use. For more information on this, visit https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/210707503-Virtual-Background.

Please note that you can change your background on the Zoom desktop app for PC and Mac and on the mobile Zoom app for iOS devices (iPhone/iPad) apps… but unfortunately the Android app does not support this feature at this time.

And, for maximum effect, consider pairing one of these backgrounds with your Regency finery!
